The Oil Pump, which is part of the lubrication system, delivers oil under pressure to the moving elements of your engine, such as the pistons, bearings, and camshaft. It draws oil from the engine by interacting with gears and crankshafts to build pressure. In internal combustion, the oil pump is placed within the oil pan at the engine's base.

A spring-loaded pressure relief valve limits the oil pressure. Under normal oil pressure levels, the spring keeps the pressure relief valve shut, and throughout high oil pressure conditions, it opens.
