BBS has been creating flow-forming spokes. For the rims of BBS Performance Line's light-alloy wheels, flow forming uses hydraulic rollers to enable higher consistency in the component structure. The rim well with the over 300 to 350-degree centigrade hot wheel blank is held under elevated heat and at high temperatures in a constant rotational movement and then rolled out in one work step over a ring.
The device works to renovate the wheel blank as per the concept of a potter's wheel. The desired result is that the original rim's thinner wall thickness and hence a lighter weight wheel of BBS Performance Line that can offer a very high level of quality at a cost much lower than a cast wheel. It also provides appropriately dense structural parameters and greater tolerance to contaminants.

Because the spokes are back-milled, a light alloy wheel obtains the ideal ratio between weight and stability. You need to start with a top-quality casting blank to produce a truly perfect and long-lasting wheel. To produce these, BBS uses low-pressure casting. This involves pressing the aluminum alloy with up to 2 bars of stress in a multipart mold. The mold is opened after cooling it down to around 400-degree Celsius, and the casting blank is prepared for some further processing.
