Most of the outstanding wheels of the past have been mesh wheels that have been used in racing, the snowflake because of how it looks, and wire wheels because they are basically on any luxury car.
The problem with these designs does not lie on age. But on size. You would be hard-pressed to find a classic wheel that measures more than 17 inches…
…Until you lay on the SSR Formula Mesh. It is perhaps a fusion of all the wheel styles mentioned above. And, more importantly, it has sizes to accommodate modern sedans and sport coupes.
The Formula Mesh is a reverse lip wheel. Like most SSR wheels, it is of a 3-piece construction.
It comes with a world-renowned timeless mesh design that complements the lines of vintage cars as well as current ones. The design has been kept true to the original despite being re-engineered to meet and exceed modern regulations and SSR's own steep standards.
The Formula Mesh wheel is made up of an outer rim, inner rim, and center disc which allows SSR to offer a wide range of offsets and ensures proper fitment specific to your vehicle.
The inner rim of the Formula Mesh is heat-treated for strength, using the HTM (Heat Treatment Manufacture) process which allows for the use of a thinner material to save weight. With weight and high strength in mind, each section of the wheel is engineered using separate grades and thickness of aluminum according to its purpose.
SSR's racing heritage and manufacturing innovations have allowed the creation of a 3-piece wheel that is both super lightweight and high in strength.
The Formula Mesh is available in 16, 18, and 19-inch diameters.
