Enkei T6S | The Kojin Grew a 6th Leg
Imitation is the best form of flattery. It is the reason why many wheels look almost the same. And maybe that’s the business plan of Rota, to flatter other wheel manufacturers.
Good thing, though, Enkei has been perfecting the art of making light wheels since the seventies. Which means that if they want to copy certain designs and principles, they need only look upon themselves and their long roster of wheels.
Such is the case for the Kojin 2.0 which Enkei elected to call the T6S.
The T6S borrows its spoke profile and general design cues from the highly successful Kojin and adds a sixth spoke to achieve an aggressive, yet subtle appearance.
Of course, like the Enkei Kojin, the Most Advanced Technology is employed to make the T6S.
As we all know, Enkei’s MAT combines processes like one-piece casting technology with a rim forming spinning process. Using this technique of casting and rim forming is critical to improving the material property and strength of the wheel.
This hybrid process of casting and forging gives the T6S high material strength which makes it incredibly stiff yet unbelievably light.
The T6S is also engineered to pass rigorous industry testing. Enkei established their test standard called “Spec-E,” which is tougher than Japan’s own stringent JWL requirements.
The Spec-E test setting requires a higher drop point in the impact test and 20% more cycles for the rotary bending fatigue and dynamic radial fatigue tests than JWL standards. Imagine dropping a beautiful wheel and cringing – and yet the wheel remains composed and, more importantly, without a scratch.
