TrueContact Tour

Continental TrueContact Tour Tires

There is a plethora of information on high-performance tires on the web. Touring all-season tires, on the other hand, literally move the planet forward. Sure, you don't purchase a touring tire because you want one; you buy it since you need one. However, this does not imply that all such tires are created equal. In fact, the exact reverse is true.

The TrueContact Tour is one of the greatest examples of why touring rubbers are so famous. One of the most prominent touring all-season tires on the market is Continental's basic touring all-season tire. Furthermore, it follows the TrueContact, a tire that has already been regarded as one of the best in its class. Despite this, the German experts improved the tire to the point where it should be towards the top of the touring classification.

The problem is that the TrueContact Tour is up against some excellent touring tires, like the Michelin Defender T+H, as well as the recently introduced Goodyear MaxLife and the outstanding Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Plus. Some less expensive competitors, such as the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring, are also quite good.

Your Next All-Season Tire

The Continental TrueContact Tour is a Standard Touring All-Season tire designed for owners of compact sedans, minivans, coupes, and small SUVs who want confident traction, a comfortable, quiet ride, and long tread life. TrueContact Tour tires are created to achieve excellent ride and noise quality and responsive performance, and comfortable grip in dry, rainy, and snowy weather, including light snow.

Features of the Continental TrueContact Tour?

Continental describes the TrueContact Tour as a "Touring performance tire with a focus on long-wear, fuel economy, and best-in-class wet braking," according to its website. They go on to say that this is the longest-lasting all-season tire they've ever made. That's great because Continental tires typically have a longer tread life.

Continental used a tread compound with +Silane additives and temperature-activated active polymers to attain those performance goals. The polymers contribute to tread life and fuel economy, while the +Silane additives assist with wet traction and brakes. For a touring all-season tire, the tread compound appears to be quite sophisticated, and that we can only commend Continental for selecting such high-quality rubber.

Precise and Easy Maneuvering

Continental formed the tread compound into a symmetric tread pattern. The purpose of that decision was to make front-rear and cross patterns easier to rotate. The tread design appears to be incredibly modern and one-of-a-kind. It has four large circumferential grooves that help prevent hydroplaning.

The tread also has siped intermediate tread blocks and lateral notches in the shoulders, which provide extra biting edges. These can be used to improve traction in extremely slick conditions like snow and ice. The traction grooves also trap snow in the tread, enhancing snow-to-snow contact.

Continental used its tried-and-true Comfort Ride Technology for pleasure. This is simply a vibration-reducing underlay that sits beneath the tread. Furthermore, fewer vibrations equate to a more comfortable ride and reduced noise. Continental claims that this technology can significantly minimize the number of vibrations entering the cabin.

Continental TrueContact Tour's Maintenance Indicators

The Continental TrueContact, unlike many of its competitors, uses QuickView Indicators. Tread Wear Indicators (TWIs), which are also present on this tire, can assist the operator in checking the tread depth considerably better. Let's see how they compare.

Traditional TWIs can only alert you when you don't have enough tread left to drive safely on wet roads. They are thin rubber bars that are built into the tire's widest grooves. When the tire is new, the TWIs are hidden, but they can be seen if you look closely.

The TWIs will become more obvious as the tread wears down. The rubber bars will be flush with the remainder of the tread when the tread thickness reaches 2/32-inch. On all-season tires, this is the minimum permissible depth. When it comes to this, you should change your tires as soon as possible. Otherwise, you risk losing a lot of traction in the rain and snow.
