What Makes the Work Meister L1 3P Special?

Work Wheels’ Meister range is a collection of 2 and 3-piece alloy wheels. These are probably some of the best recognized wheel designs in the Work range. Because of the 2 and 3-piece construction, they can be ordered in super deep dish sizes with 1mm offset increments, plus you can have a set custom made to perfectly suit your car. These characteristics make the Work Meister L1 3P desirable among enthusiasts and racers.

The L1 3P is a 6-spoke motorsport derived wheel, with a recessed mounting face that gives the wheel design serious attitude in high offsets and deep face in low offsets. Here is a wheel that is so incredibly strong and light weight that it will take your performance car to the next level with precise handling, natural steering wheel, and better acceleration due to the reduced un-sprung mass. And this wheel will remain intact despite the abuse of racing and spirited driving due to Work Wheels’ 3-piece wheel construction.

Work Wheels’ Three Piece Construction

The L1 3P is made up of three parts: center disc, outer rim, and inner rim.  The center is assembled in the sandwich between outer and inner rim and assembled through Work chrome-plated stainless steel Inox Torx screws. Finally, the assembly gap between rims and center is sealed with a Work proven high-quality silicone sealant.

The sandwich construction is the classic assembly method which is used by Work since the first production of 3-piece wheels in 1977. Today only the Competition oriented design MEISTER S1 and the retro designs EQUIP 01 and 03 are using this construction.

The L1 sports a different assembly method, however. Assembled and assembled & welded 3-piece Work wheels with Overhead assembly like the L1 3P are basically composed by the same parts as the sandwich construction. As main difference the center disc is assembled to the rims from the front outside. The overhead assembly is todays standard of Work 3piece wheels. The result of using Full Reverse rims in combination with overhead assembly is a center disc with a considerably larger diameter which makes the wheel look bigger and more attractive.

Most manufacturers of 3-piece wheels are using spun rims with rim edges that are curled backwards, leaving a hollow area that reduces the strength of the rim edge. Work has replaced this production method with the state-of-the-art solid outer rim edge which is forged from full material.

The L1 3P also sports a solid rim edge. The cold forged outer rim edge of WORK rims is manufactured from full material. This production method provides a superior strength and resistance against impact stress.
