Air Lift was founded by GE Engineer, Claude Pemberton, and Oldsmobile Toronado Developer Don Perkins back in 1949.
During those days, families in the US tend to travel frequently across the country with heavy loads, causing premature wear on the suspension. Seeing the need for a solution, Air Lift was created to produce a suspension that would help support the vehicle's added load while improving the ride and safety.
