Why Upgrade to High-Performance Brake Packages
Brake packages usually feature the main parts of the brake system. They include rotors, calipers, brake pads, and brake lines. So if you want to replace your brake system or upgrade its overall performance, purchasing a brake package is a great way to go! Here are some important things to keep in mind when purchasing a brake package.
Brake Rotors
Cheap brake rotors warp and get worn out faster than more expensive and higher quality rotors. For this reason, you must do what’s best for you and your car. That is, to purchase reliable products that will give you plenty of years of good quality use.
Keep in mind that aftermarket OEM rotors last longer than factory rotors. High-performance brake rotors are denser and more capable of enduring the heat produced by the braking system. If you are looking for high-performance brake rotors for sports use, consider drilled, slotted or drilled and slotted rotors.
Brake Calipers
Brake calipers can suffer from contamination and rust and even leak brake fluid. They are similar to rotors in a way that they take up substantial amounts of heat. Eventually, this weakens and destroys the seals within the calipers.
Thus, just like with every component of your brake system, it’s important to take note of your caliper’s physical and functional condition. Many upgraded calipers offer more clamping forced and better brake pedal peel compared to OEM calipers.
Brake Pads
The majority of OEM replacement brake pads are engineered for regular driving needs. However, if you want to install new ones on a high-performance vehicle and want to drive it on the track, there are brake pads that can specifically satisfy your needs.
There are serious risks involved in pushing ordinary brake pads beyond their limitations, especially in extreme road and driving conditions. So be sure to choose the right brake pads based on your specific needs. Many aftermarket brake pads offer superior bite and stopping power, but many of them produce a lot of brake dust.
Brake Lines
Stainless steel braided brake lines offer better braking feel and response compared to factory brake lines. Rubber factory brake lines enlarge once the pressure is put on the pedal. This results in poorer response times.
Stainless steel braided brake lines are stiff and will not expand like rubber factory brake lines. They are also more durable and resilient to wear and tear. Thus, they not only perform better but last longer as well.
