Innovative Materials

We use a unique steel alloy called Carrilloy for our connecting rods. This special blend of chrome, nickel, moly, and vanadium meets all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM) standards. By refining the acceptable attributes during manufacturing, we ensure that the heat is validated by both our suppliers and independent metallurgists to confirm the desired physical and chemical properties.

Fastener System: The Heart of Performance

The fastener system in a high-performance connecting rod is crucial. That's why it’s essential to install the fastener according to our instructions and with the recommended lubricant. With nearly fifty years of experience, CP-Carrillo has become synonymous with the most recognized fasteners in the industry. Our designs are based on known yield loads, ensuring that during linear stretch, this load is never reached. We recommend a stretch value of 80% of the yield load, calculated using a tension-torque diagram.

While torque figures are commonly used for tightening fasteners, we prefer the stretch method. Torque can be influenced by various factors, such as lubrication, thread conditions, and dimensional integrity, which can affect your desired preload. By using the stretch method, you minimize these variables, leading to a more consistent and reliable preload.
