Every CP-Carrillo rod is proudly manufactured in the USA from oversized proprietary steel forgings. This method ensures optimal grain flow while eliminating any surface inclusions, resulting in rods that are consistently reliable—from the initial stages of precision manufacturing to the intense demands of the racing world.

Innovative Materials

We use a specially formulated steel known as Carrilloy to manufacture our connecting rods. This unique alloy, which combines chrome, nickel, moly, and vanadium, meets all VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM standards). Carrilloy is an enhanced version of an existing SAE specification, with stricter attributes to ensure the highest quality. The heat treatment of our steel is validated by both our suppliers and independent metallurgists, guaranteeing the desired physical and chemical properties.

Fastener System: The Heart of Performance

The fastener system in a high-performance connecting rod is critical to its assembly. That's why it's essential to install the fastener according to our guidelines and with the recommended lubrication. With nearly fifty years of experience, CP-Carrillo has become synonymous with the most recognized fasteners in the industry. Our designs are rooted in proven yield loads, ensuring that during the linear stretch of the bolt, the maximum load is never reached.

We recommend a stretch value of 80% of the yield load, calculated using a tension-torque diagram. While torque is a common method for tightening fasteners, we prefer the stretch method. Torque can be influenced by many factors, including the lubrication used, thread condition, and dimensional integrity. By adopting the stretch method, we minimize variability and achieve consistent preload with our high-quality fasteners.
