If you're looking to keep your brakes cool and performing at their best, these new perforated titanium heat insulation shims are a solid upgrade. In lab tests, they’ve shown they can drop the heat transfer through your brake pads to the caliper by about 90°F. That’s a pretty big deal if you’re pushing your ride hard on the track or just want better performance on the street.
Install Instructions:
- First off, make sure the shims sit flat against the back of the brake pad. No gaps, please!
- If your pads come with those rubberized shims that stock pads usually have, you’ll need to yank those off first. Trust me, you don’t want to end up with a pad that’s too thick.
- To get the old shims off, use a blunt edge screwdriver to break the adhesive seal. Once they’re off, give the back of the pad a light sanding to remove any leftover glue or bumps. The new titanium shims need to fit snugly against the pad backing plate—no debris in between, or you might end up with a spongy brake pedal.
- If you’re working with sliding calipers, you’ll find two shims in the set; each goes on the pad next to the piston. For multi-piston calipers, you’ll get enough shims for all four pads on the axle.

This leads to brake vibration in the 3-5,000 miles lifetime period and is not a warrantable condition. The solution for vibration at this stage is to have the rotors turned or replaced and to thoroughly clean the mounting flange on the vehicle and carefully check for runout before returning the vehicle to service use.
