The Extreme Turbo Systems 800-10-IC-04 intercooler is engineered for serious performance and efficiency, particularly for the Mazda RX-7 models from 1993 to 1995. This intercooler upgrade is designed to enhance charge air cooling, ensuring optimal performance even under high boost conditions.
Developed in a controlled environment on a shop car equipped with a T66 turbo and Haltech management, this intercooler has demonstrated significant improvements in charge air temperatures. Initial testing with an Apexi FMIC kit showed charge air temps reaching 140-150°F, leading to slight detonation in higher gears. After switching to the ETS intercooler, charge air temperatures stabilized at 110°F, peaking at 122°F, allowing for consistent operation at 23 psi without detonation.
Additionally, coolant temperatures dropped from over 210°F to a more manageable 185-195°F, ensuring reliable performance. This intercooler maintains efficiency with a stock bumper and has shown even greater temperature reductions in vehicles with aftermarket body kits.
