Alright, let’s talk about this intercooler kit we’ve been working on. We put it through its paces on our shop car, that bright yellow RX-7 you see in the pictures. It’s got a T66 turbo and a Haltech setup, along with all the other goodies you’d expect. Initially, we tried it with an Apexi FMIC, and while it wasn’t terrible, we were hitting charge air temps around 140-150 degrees. Not great for performance, and trust me, you could hear a bit of detonation in the higher gears thanks to that heat. Plus, coolant temps were creeping over 210 degrees, which is just too hot for comfort, especially when you're pushing it at 21 psi with a pump gas tune.
Then we swapped in this kit, and man, what a difference! Charge air temps dropped to a cool 110 degrees, and we’ve only seen them peak at 122 degrees. That’s allowed us to crank up the boost to 23 psi without any detonation issues. Coolant temps? They dropped to a solid 185-195 degrees and never go over 200. And we’re still running the stock bumper here! We’ve even had customers with body kits report even better temp reductions. Typical results for a T66 turbo at 20 psi are between 95-110 degrees for charge air and 180-185 degrees for coolant. It’s a real game changer.
The design of this ETS intercooler kit is top-notch too. It completely fills the stock bumper opening, and it’s got this ultra-wide 30-inch tank-to-tank dimension that just looks killer. If you’re looking to make your ride not just perform better but look better too, this is the way to go.
