Performance Insights

When we first installed an Apexi FMIC kit, we experienced some solid results, but charge air temperatures would spike to a concerning 140-150 degrees Fahrenheit. This led to slight detonation in higher gears, which we monitored using a J&S Knock sensor. Coupled with high coolant temperatures often exceeding 210 degrees, it was clear we needed a better solution.

Switching to the ETS intercooler transformed our setup. Charge air temperatures dropped significantly to a mere 110 degrees, peaking at 122 degrees under heavy load. This reduction allowed us to run 23 psi on pump gas without any detonation issues. Coolant temperatures also saw a marked improvement, stabilizing between 185-195 degrees, never breaching the 200-degree mark—all while maintaining a stock bumper setup.
