With a horizontal setup, you end up splitting the core into two sections—one for each bank. The issue? The bottom bank gets way better airflow and lower intake air temperatures (IAT) than the top bank, which gets stuck behind the crash beam. That’s not ideal when you’re pushing your GT-R to the limits.
The core on this intercooler is massive—22 inches wide, 14 inches tall, and 4.5 inches thick. That’s a lot of cooling power packed into one piece. Plus, the full 3-inch stainless mandrel bent piping ensures smooth airflow without any restrictions. It’s built to last, and the brackets around the oil cooler help prevent any potential leaks, which is something you definitely want to avoid on the track.
Now, if you’re concerned about fitment, don’t sweat it. The Race version clears the factory crash beam without any fuss, while the Super Race version does require a bit of trimming. Either way, you’ll have no issues with the factory bumper cover or under tray, and it fits snugly in the fender wells—super important for those full-lock turns.
One of the things I really appreciate is the attention to detail with the clamps. They use Breeze high-quality T-bolt clamps with a bridge, so you don’t have to worry about them slipping off under pressure. And whether you’re sticking with the factory blow-off valve pipes or going for an aftermarket replacement, this kit’s got you covered.
