So, you’re looking to boost your Mazda RX-7's performance? Let’s talk about our Standard Single and Twin Turbo kit. This setup features 2.5" mandrel-bent piping that runs from the turbo all the way to the throttle body elbow. If you’ve got a Greddy elbow on the throttle side, you’ll want to grab our 3" Greddy Elbow Pipe for the driver side. And hey, if you’re rocking a single turbo with a Greddy elbow, we’ve got an upgrade option to swap both long engine compartment pipes to 3". Just a heads-up, the short pipes connecting to the intercooler and its inlet/outlet stay at 2.5".
If you’re thinking about moving from twin turbos to a single setup, you’ll need to snag a new Single Turbo upgrade Pipe from our piping section, plus a 2.5" 90 Degree Silicone Elbow. It’s pretty straightforward.
Now, let's get into the nitty-gritty. We’ve tested this kit on our shop car—a yellow FD you might have seen in the pics. It runs a T66 turbo, Haltech, and all the supporting mods you’d want. When we first threw on an Apexi FMIC kit, we thought we were doing alright, but those charge air temps shot up to a concerning 140-150 degrees. We even saw some detonation in higher gears, which is never a good sign. Plus, the coolant temps were consistently over 210 degrees. That was all on a pump gas tune at 21psi with a 10.5 AFR and 10 degrees of ignition timing.
Once we switched to this kit, the game changed. Charge air temps dropped to around 110 degrees, with the highest we’ve seen being 122 degrees. That’s a huge win! We can now run 23psi on pump gas without any detonation issues. Coolant temps also improved, sitting comfortably between 185-195 degrees and never exceeding 200 degrees, all while keeping the stock bumper in place. We've even had a few customer cars with body kits that reported even better temperature reductions. Typically, with a T66 at 20psi, you can expect charge air temps around 95-110 degrees and coolant temps around 180-185 degrees. Plus, this ETS intercooler kit fills the stock bumper opening perfectly, thanks to its ultra-wide 30" tank-to-tank dimension.
Features:In short, if you’re looking to up your RX-7’s game, this Extreme Turbo Systems intercooler piping kit is a solid choice. It’s designed to fit perfectly and give you the performance you’re after without a ton of hassle.
