His shiny new WRX was stalling out thanks to an atmosphere-venting BOV. Frustrated, he rolled up his sleeves and created something that would change the game forever—the Hybrid.
This isn’t just any BOV; it’s a piece of automotive history. The Hybrid was the first of its kind, featuring two venting ports that work in harmony. The recirculation port kicks in before the atmospheric port opens, which means no more stalling or backfiring on cars with a MAF sensor. And hey, you still get that sweet blow-off sound when you’re pushing your ride to the limits.
What’s wild is that this innovation was so impactful that it set the standard for nearly every other BOV brand out there. The Hybrid paved the way for GFB's next breakthroughs, like the Respons TMS with its adjustable venting bias and the electronically adjustable Deceptor Pro.
After taking a backseat for a while, the Hybrid is back to celebrate its 20th birthday. And it’s not just a nostalgia trip. This new version keeps the same staged venting outlets as the original but adds some modern flair. You can now configure it for full recirc, full atmosphere, or a sweet 50/50 split, depending on how you want to set up your ride.
