Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the first dual outlet blow-off valve hit the scene? Back in 1998, before smartphones and social media took over our lives, a guy named John Adrian was just trying to enjoy his new WRX. But that pesky atmosphere-venting BOV was causing it to stall, and he thought, “There’s got to be a better way.” And just like that, the Hybrid was born!
This wasn’t just any BOV; it was a game-changer. GFB’s flagship model, the Hybrid, featured a clever dual port design. The recirc port opens before the atmosphere port, which is a lifesaver for cars with a MAF sensor. It helps prevent those annoying backfires and stalls while still delivering that sweet blow-off sound when you really put your foot down. It’s that perfect balance of performance and fun.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and this innovation has been so influential that you’ll find its tech in just about every other BOV brand out there. The Hybrid paved the way for GFB’s next big things, like the Respons TMS with its venting bias adjustability and the electronically adjustable Deceptor Pro. But hey, the Hybrid has been off the market for a bit, and it’s time for a comeback!
