Back in '98, when the world was a different place—think no Justin Bieber, Y2K panic, and Google was just a baby—GFB's own John Adrian had a lightbulb moment. His new WRX kept stalling because of a single atmosphere-venting BOV, and he thought, “There’s got to be a better way.” So, he rolled up his sleeves and created the Hybrid.
This isn’t just any BOV; it was a game changer. The Hybrid was the first of its kind, sporting two venting ports that worked in harmony. The recirc port opens up before the atmosphere port, which means no more stalling or backfiring, especially for those MAF sensor setups. Plus, you still get that satisfying whoosh when you’re pushing your car to the limit.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and you’ll see that this innovation paved the way for other brands to follow suit. The Hybrid led to GFB's next big thing, the Respons TMS, and then the Deceptor Pro, which even allows for electronic adjustments. But let’s be real—the Hybrid holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts.
After a bit of a hiatus, GFB is bringing the Hybrid back to celebrate its legacy. And trust me, it’s not just for show. This new version keeps the same great staged venting system but now gives you options: go full recirc, full atmosphere, or split it 50/50. It’s like having your cake and eating it too, all while being affordable!
