If you're into building serious powerplants, you’ve probably heard of the BOSS 302 and 351 blocks. Well, Ford Racing has taken that legacy and cranked it up a notch with their new BOSS block. They’ve pulled in the latest tech from both the racing world and mass production, so you know you’re getting something special here. These blocks have been put through their paces on tracks and streets around the globe, proving they can handle whatever you throw at them.
What’s cool about the BOSS block is that it keeps a lot of the dimensions and features from the classic 289-351 blocks, which makes it a drop-in replacement for just about any ride that used a Windsor-style engine. It’s cast from diesel-grade iron, and they’ve beefed up the material in all the right spots. Trust me, this thing is way stronger than any stock Ford block you’ll find. You’ll want to grab some special length 1/2" head bolts (M-6065-BOSS) or head studs (M-6014-BOSS) to make sure everything fits just right, especially if you’re using the M-6049-X306/307/Z304DA heads. And don’t forget the M-6051-S331 or M-6051-CP331 head gasket to seal the deal.
This block is designed to be compatible with the original 302 and 351W setups, which is a huge plus if you’re swapping out an old engine. You can also pick up the M-6026-A Service Replacement Plug and Dowel Kit separately. It comes with all the O-ring threaded plugs and dowels you’ll need for a clean install. Plus, it retains the original clutch cross shaft pivot hole and the oil filter location, so you won’t have to reinvent the wheel when you’re bolting this thing in.
Weighing in at around 195 lbs, this block is a solid foundation for any 9.2" deck project you have in mind. If you’re looking for a reliable, high-performance engine block that won’t break the bank, this is it.
This block is designed for universal fitment, but it’s always a good idea to double-check your specific application to ensure it’s a match for your setup. A little research goes a long way!
