Girodisc Front Titanium Shims for Porsche 911 Carrera S/4S (996 | 997) & Turbo (996)
$95.00

Let’s talk about a common headache for those of us who push our cars hard on the track: brake fluid boiling. It’s a frustrating issue that stems from heat creeping in from the rotors and pads directly into the brake fluid through the caliper pistons. When that fluid gets too hot, it starts to boil, and guess what? You end up with air bubbles in the system. That means your brake pedal goes straight to the floor instead of giving you the stopping power you need. Trust me, you don’t want that to happen when you’re coming into a turn.

Production cars usually struggle with this on track days because they lack the fancy cooling ducts and high-end brake materials that true racing machines have. That’s why you’ll often see racing calipers equipped with titanium pistons. Why titanium? It’s got low thermal conductivity, which means it doesn’t transfer heat as easily. In simple terms, it helps keep your brake fluid cool when you’re really putting the pedal to the metal.

Here’s where Girodisc comes in with a smart solution. They’ve designed a thin titanium shim that fits snugly between the brake pad back and the pistons. This little piece does wonders by blocking the heat from transferring into the pistons and the brake fluid. To give you a clearer picture, check out these thermal conductivity ratings:

  • Titanium 6AL-4V: 6.7 W/mk
  • Steel: 52 W/mk
  • Aluminum: 130 W/mk

You can see right away that titanium is way better at keeping the heat at bay compared to steel or aluminum. If you're planning on hitting the track hard or going for multiple sessions, these shims are a smart investment. They’re a cheap insurance policy against losing your pedal feel at the worst possible moment, which could turn your day into a costly disaster.

Plus, these shims are water jet cut to the exact size you need, so you won't be stuck cutting, grinding, or dealing with any frustrations. Just install and hit the track.
