PCI Race Radios GPS Belt Temp Sensor Package with Network Starter Kit
$331.99

If you’re looking to keep tabs on your CVT belt temperature, the GPS Infrared Belt Temperature Gauge Sensor by Rugged Routes is a solid choice. This little gadget is a breeze to install and works seamlessly with Lowrance HDS and Elite Ti GPS units. Just plug it into your N2K network—kind of like how you’d hook up a Point-1 Baja Antenna—and voilà! Your belt temp shows up right on your GPS screen. This can really help you fine-tune your driving style or get your clutch tuning just right, which is crucial for extending the life of your CVT belt.

Installation is straightforward: you’ll need to drill a 3/8" to 1/2" hole in the plastic belt cover above the center of your belt. The sensor is a compact cube that fits snugly against the belt cover, thanks to a 3/16" thick waterproof closed-cell foam pad. It sticks on with some tough 3M adhesive, so you know it’s not going anywhere.

Just make sure to clean the surface before you stick it on. Hold it down for about 30 seconds, and then give it 24 hours to fully set. If you want a visual guide, there’s an instructional video available that walks you through the process.

  • Works with Gen2 or newer HDS units and Elite Ti screens that are 7" or larger.
  • Not compatible with Elite-5 Ti or Trophy models—so keep that in mind.
  • This sensor package doesn’t come with NMEA connectors, extension cables, or power cables, so you might need to grab those separately.
  • If you opt for the version with Lowrance cables, you’ll get a Network Starter Kit included.
  • If you’ve already got an external antenna, you’ll just need to add a T connector and extension cable to your existing setup.
  • If you don’t have an external antenna, you’ll need to connect everything from the Network Starter Kit to power up the sensor.
  • The protectors measure around 10" x 3.5", and you’ll also get an installation squeegee and instructions in the package.

Overall, if you’re serious about your ride and want to keep everything running smoothly, this sensor is a smart addition to your setup.

What is PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios has been the leader in off-road and racing communications since 1972. The company takes pride in its extensive field testing, competitive prices, unparalleled customer service, and simplified packages that make communications easy with unmatched support even after the sale. With more than 45 years of experience in the off-road racing industry, PCI Race Radios develops and tests all of its own products. The brand has a full-service technical repair shop at its headquarters in Long Beach, California, and provides trackside, mobile services to its desert enthusiasts at off-road races. PCI Race Radios supports the ASA, CORVA, ORBA, and the San Diego Off-Road Coalition. It also sponsors District 37, SCORE, SNORE, MDR, MORE, CORR, BITD, and provides desert racers with the Weatherman Relay Service.

PCI Race Radios is a family-owned company that is dedicated to taking the time to both “race and play.” The company tests its products on dirt bikes, motorcycles, quads, rock crawlers, race cars, Raptors, RZRs, Mavericks, and boats. It can, therefore, thoroughly understand consumers’ needs and offer hands-on recommendations from experience.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.

Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
