Now, let’s talk features. The PCI Elite Wiring comes with a black 4-pin connector that works perfectly with both the Elite and Comlink X intercom systems. Just a heads-up, while this helmet is DOT approved and great for recreational use, it’s not meant for racing—so keep that in mind if you’re planning to hit the track.

When you go for the PCI Custom Wired option, you’re getting a complete setup that includes a microphone and some seriously powerful speakers. They even throw in an H2NO water-resistant pigtail, which is a nice touch if you find yourself caught in the rain.

Oh, and if you’re looking to add a helmet skirt, there’s Velcro installed for that (just grab it separately). Weighing in at just 4.05 lbs when wired with RaceAir, this helmet won’t weigh you down, allowing you to focus on the ride instead of your gear.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.

Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
