If you’re into UTV riding, the HJC i10 helmet is definitely worth checking out. I’ve put this helmet through its paces, and let me tell you, it’s a solid choice for anyone who spends time off the beaten path. It’s lightweight, which is a huge plus when you’re out there for hours. You won’t feel like you’re lugging around a brick on your head. Plus, the interior is removable, making it super easy to clean after a muddy adventure.

One of the standout features of the i10 is the custom wiring done by the pros at PCI. They use top-notch components, so you’re getting a reliable setup with a gray 5-pin connector that integrates seamlessly with Trax stereo intercom systems. This means you can stay connected with your crew while you’re out tearing up the trails.

Now, I should mention that this helmet is DOT approved, which makes it perfect for recreational use—though it’s not meant for racing. But if you’re just out there for fun, it’s got you covered. The PCI custom wiring comes with a solid microphone and large, high-watt speakers, plus an H2NO water-resistant pigtail, so you don’t have to worry about a little moisture ruining your ride.

Ventilation is another area where the i10 shines. With the PCI RaceAir modification, you get channeled air vents that really help keep things cool inside the helmet, especially on those hot days. Speaking of comfort, the advanced polycarbonate composite shell is not just tough; it’s designed to fit well and feel good. The plush Nylex cheek pads and liner are removable and washable, which is a game-changer after a long day of riding.

The shield offers 95% UV protection, so your eyes are shielded from the sun while you’re out exploring. Plus, the quick and secure tool-less removal and installation make it easy to swap out if you need to. And if you’re looking to add a helmet skirt for extra coverage, it’s got Velcro already installed for that (just keep in mind, it’s sold separately).

At just 4.05 lbs when wired with Race Air, you’ll hardly notice it’s there. Overall, the HJC i10 is a great blend of comfort, functionality, and quality. If you’re serious about your UTV rides, this helmet is definitely worth considering.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.

Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
