PCI Race Radios 659 VHF and UHF Antenna: Elevate Your Communication

For those who take their off-road adventures seriously, the 659 VHF and UHF Antenna by PCI Race Radios is an essential upgrade for your communication setup. Designed for optimal performance in rugged environments, this antenna operates within the frequency range of 132-525 MHz, ensuring clear and reliable communication whether you’re on the trails or at the track.

Fitment

This antenna is compatible with various off-road and racing vehicles. When ordering, make sure to specify your race channel according to the B132S CUT CHART. If you don't specify, we will tune the antenna to mid (151.625 MHz) by default.

Installation Notes

  • Proper mounting is crucial for maximizing the range of your two-way radio. For the best results, mount the antenna on a metal roof in the center, ensuring there are no obstructions (like roof racks or light bars) within 18 inches.
  • If your vehicle doesn't have a roof, choose a central location. The intersection of two tubes can act as a ground plane. For optimal performance, consider mounting the antenna to a corner triangle tab and utilize a no ground plane antenna.
  • Be mindful of your wiring! Avoid running radio coax and intercom helmet cables in the same loom to prevent RF interference. Keep coax and power cables away from ignition equipment to avoid noise issues. Remember, if your coax appears flattened or worn, it’s time for a replacement.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.

Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
