If you're out in the desert, you know how crucial it is to keep cool and comfortable while you’re tearing it up. The Klim R1 Fresh Air Helmet is here to make sure you’re not just surviving, but enjoying every minute of your ride. This helmet has been getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason.
First off, let’s talk about the fit. This small-sized helmet is perfect for those who need a snug fit without compromising on comfort. It weighs in at just 3.8 lbs when wired with the Fresh Air system, so you won’t feel like you’re lugging around a brick on your head.
In terms of certification, this helmet is DOT approved and ECE 22-05 certified, so you know it meets safety standards for recreational use. Just a heads-up, though—it’s not approved for racing, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to hit the track.
Available in a sleek Matte Black finish, the Klim R1 Fresh Air Helmet isn’t just functional; it looks good too. If you’re serious about your off-road adventures, this helmet is definitely worth checking out.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.
Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
