PCI Race Radios PCI Wired Impact 1320 Side Air SA2020 Flat Black

So, if you're in the market for a solid racing helmet, you might want to check out the PCI Wired Impact 1320 Side Air SA2020 in Flat Black. This helmet isn’t just about looks; it’s built for performance and comfort on the track. I’ve used it myself, and let me tell you, the first thing you’ll notice is that wide, low eye port. It gives you a fantastic field of view—perfect for keeping an eye on the dash and everything else happening around you.

Now, let’s talk about the build. The shell is made from some proprietary lightweight composites, which means you’re getting a sturdy helmet without feeling like you’re lugging around a brick. And if you’re racing in warmer conditions, the side forced air inlet with a barbed adapter really helps keep the air flowing, making those long laps a bit more bearable.

One feature I really appreciate is the Velcro that’s already installed for a helmet skirt. It’s a small touch, but it shows that they’re thinking about the details. And if you’re into custom audio setups, this helmet comes PCI custom wired with large, high-watt speakers. You can even add the Challenger II or Semi Custom Ear Pieces for a more tailored audio experience. Plus, if you’re running a Trax intercom system, you can wire it in stereo for just $25 more—definitely worth it for those long races.

Now, if you’re worried about noise, there’s an optional upgrade to noise-attenuating ear cups. I’ve heard great things about these—sure, it’s a bit of a squeeze getting the helmet on, but once it’s on, the comfort and noise cancellation are top-notch. You’ll also get a standard low noise, low gain microphone, but if you want to step it up, there’s a Gentex microphone upgrade available for $124.99.

Another thing to note is that all SA2015 and SA2020 helmets come with a 6mm back plate, making it super easy to install head and neck restraint hardware. If you buy the hardware from us, we’ll even install it for free—just let us know in the notes when you order. And if you’re into staying hydrated while you race, there’s an optional hydration system upgrade available too.

As for weight, this helmet clocks in at about 4.5 lbs wired (without the ear cups), which is pretty manageable when you’re focused on the track. Just keep in mind that our inventory levels can change daily, so it’s a good idea to reach out if you have any questions or want to confirm stock. Otherwise, feel free to place your order online, and we’ll get back to you with lead times pretty quickly.

What is PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios has been the leader in off-road and racing communications since 1972. The company takes pride in its extensive field testing, competitive prices, unparalleled customer service, and simplified packages that make communications easy with unmatched support even after the sale. With more than 45 years of experience in the off-road racing industry, PCI Race Radios develops and tests all of its own products. The brand has a full-service technical repair shop at its headquarters in Long Beach, California, and provides trackside, mobile services to its desert enthusiasts at off-road races. PCI Race Radios supports the ASA, CORVA, ORBA, and the San Diego Off-Road Coalition. It also sponsors District 37, SCORE, SNORE, MDR, MORE, CORR, BITD, and provides desert racers with the Weatherman Relay Service.

PCI Race Radios is a family-owned company that is dedicated to taking the time to both “race and play.” The company tests its products on dirt bikes, motorcycles, quads, rock crawlers, race cars, Raptors, RZRs, Mavericks, and boats. It can, therefore, thoroughly understand consumers’ needs and offer hands-on recommendations from experience.

Who is Behind PCI Race Radios?

PCI Race Radios was started in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, Steinberger sent up three weather balloons with 500 feet of coax attached to them. It was that day when the first successful radio relay from a pit was made. Since then, Bob’s iconic status has spanned through nearly half a century of work with his communications brand, PCI Race Radios.

Bob Steinberger passed away in 2017, handing over the company to his son Scott, who has been racing since 1983. Scott Steinberger understands what goes into racing and the importance of quality (communication) products that help get you to the finish line.
