Swift Springs Metric Coilover Spring ID 60MM 2.37-Inch 6-Inch Length 1564 lbs/Inch Universal
$101.15

If you're diving into the world of performance tuning, you’ve probably heard of Swift Springs. With over 90 years under their belt in industrial spring manufacturing, they’ve really nailed down what it takes to create a spring that doesn’t just sit there but actually enhances your ride. I’ve spent some time with their products, and let me tell you, these springs are a game-changer.

Now, many folks just swap springs around and call it a day, but if you’re after something that truly transforms your driving experience, you need to check these out. Imagine a spring that not only gives you a smoother ride but also boosts your traction and keeps those tire temps in check. The engineers at Swift have taken that idea and made it a reality. They’ve put in the hours to ensure these springs deliver a predictable feel, which is crucial whether you’re cruising the streets or hitting the track.

What sets Swift Springs apart is their use of H5S.TW. material. It’s a step up from the usual silicone chrome steel, allowing for fewer coils in the spring design. This means less un-sprung weight, which translates to better handling and responsiveness. You’ll notice the difference when you’re taking those tight corners or just navigating your daily commute.

For those of you working in the metric system—especially in the sport compact and road racing scenes—Swift has got your back with their metric line of coilover springs. They come in various sizes, so whether you need an inner diameter from 60mm (2.25") to 70mm (2.75"), or spring lengths from 127mm (5") to 280mm (11"), there’s something here for everyone. And with spring rates ranging from 3kg (168lbs) all the way up to 34kg (1900lbs), you can tailor your setup to be as comfy or aggressive as you want.

To give you some specifics, the Z60-152-280 model features a spring rate of 1564 lbs/inch, a usable stroke of 2.3 inches, and a max stroke of 3 inches. It’s designed to handle a max load of 4735 lbs, making it a solid choice for a range of applications. Just keep in mind that you might need more than one spring depending on your vehicle setup.

Why was Swift Springs Formed?

Swift Springs was founded in 1997 in Tokyo, Japan as a motorsports division of Tokyo Hatsujo Manufacturing Co, Ltd., which has been leading the spring industry since 1924. Swift Springs was established to demonstrate their superior engineering by developing the next generation of sport suspension coilover springs. The scope of the project was to surpass the best of any other brand or design in the market by making the springs ultra-durable and lightweight, while still being affordable.

World-Class Racing Experience

Since its inception, Swift Springs has been led by former racer and suspension expert Kei Yokota and the chief engineer Yasu Saito. Their first-hand experience and involvement within the race industry have propelled Swift Springs through the ranks of the world’s most prestigious races. Swift quickly became the most recognized and respected name in performance coil springs in motorsports all around the globe.

The brand’s impressive motor racing history started in 1998 with a Nissan Skyline GT-R in the Super Taikyu Endurance championship series in Japan. Swift Springs moved on to support championship teams in the 24 Hours Nurburgring, 24 Hours of Le Mans, D-1 World Grand Prix, F3, Formula Toyota, the Super Taikyu series, and many other world-class races. In 2004, Team Goh’s Audi R8 won first place with Swift Springs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

All Springs are not Created Equal

All coilover spring manufacturers claim to have four factors: lightest in weight, largest amount of stroke, most consistent spring rate, and highest durability against loss of spring height. Only the innovative and revolutionary Swift Springs achieve the fifth factor which is having the fastest reaction speed possible to gain compliance on road surface conditions. While diameters and spring rates may be similar across several brands, the spring manufacturing process is what determines exactly how well they will perform. To achieve all five factors, Swift Springs developed a proprietary steel alloy "HS5.TW", as well as a patented winding method that no other coilover manufacturer can duplicate.

Swift Springs provide drivers with a difference that they can feel and several racing benefits. Swift Springs use a very strong alloy, which means they can use a thinner diameter of wire. In turn, the thinner wire is much lighter and extremely vital given it is unsprung weight. Thinner wire also means that there is more gap between the coils with more “stroke” for the spring. This gives the spring more travel and does not “bottom” as early as thicker wire springs. Lastly, Swift Springs prove to be incredibly consistent and reliable. At the end of one year of racing, Swift Springs are typically within .5-1.0 percent of the rate they were when they just came out of the box.
