Swift Sport Springs for Subaru Forester (2004-2008)

If you’re looking to give your Subaru Forester a little attitude while still keeping that smooth ride you love, the Swift Sport Springs are worth checking out. These springs do more than just drop your ride height; they’re designed for folks who appreciate both performance and comfort.

Swift didn’t just slap these springs together with a “lower and go” mentality. They had three key goals in mind:

  • Keep that comfy ride you expect from the showroom.
  • Enhance handling by reducing body roll and squat, striking a good balance in your suspension setup.
  • Lower your vehicle without pushing it past the limits of usable stroke.

Let’s be honest, a lot of lowering springs out there can turn your ride into a bone-shaker. You might end up sacrificing comfort for looks, which is a bummer. But with Swift, you don’t have to deal with that. They’ve crafted their own material—H5S.TW—and a unique manufacturing method that really makes a difference. This combo helps maintain comfort while ramping up performance.

The design of these springs is pretty clever too. With fewer coils, they cut down on un-sprung mass and eliminate coil bind, all while maximizing usable stroke. This means you get a spring that responds quickly to whatever the road throws at you. While other springs might bounce around on rough surfaces, Swift’s springs adapt, giving you a smoother ride.

And it’s not just about comfort. Whether you're hitting the streets or taking a lap on the track, expect to notice improvements in how your suspension behaves. You’ll feel more connected to the road without the harshness that often comes with lowering springs.

Bump Rubber Considerations

Today’s suspension systems have limited usable stroke compared to older models. To help your suspension do its job right, many manufacturers use bump rubber to prevent shocks from bottoming out. Swift has taken this into account during the design phase, ensuring that their sport springs work well in real-world conditions, including racing.

Every set of Swift Sport Springs is developed with the unique characteristics of your vehicle in mind. So, whether you’re driving a luxury ride or a sporty model, you’ll keep the essence of what makes your car special.

Why was Swift Springs Formed?

Swift Springs was founded in 1997 in Tokyo, Japan as a motorsports division of Tokyo Hatsujo Manufacturing Co, Ltd., which has been leading the spring industry since 1924. Swift Springs was established to demonstrate their superior engineering by developing the next generation of sport suspension coilover springs. The scope of the project was to surpass the best of any other brand or design in the market by making the springs ultra-durable and lightweight, while still being affordable.

World-Class Racing Experience

Since its inception, Swift Springs has been led by former racer and suspension expert Kei Yokota and the chief engineer Yasu Saito. Their first-hand experience and involvement within the race industry have propelled Swift Springs through the ranks of the world’s most prestigious races. Swift quickly became the most recognized and respected name in performance coil springs in motorsports all around the globe.

The brand’s impressive motor racing history started in 1998 with a Nissan Skyline GT-R in the Super Taikyu Endurance championship series in Japan. Swift Springs moved on to support championship teams in the 24 Hours Nurburgring, 24 Hours of Le Mans, D-1 World Grand Prix, F3, Formula Toyota, the Super Taikyu series, and many other world-class races. In 2004, Team Goh’s Audi R8 won first place with Swift Springs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

All Springs are not Created Equal

All coilover spring manufacturers claim to have four factors: lightest in weight, largest amount of stroke, most consistent spring rate, and highest durability against loss of spring height. Only the innovative and revolutionary Swift Springs achieve the fifth factor which is having the fastest reaction speed possible to gain compliance on road surface conditions. While diameters and spring rates may be similar across several brands, the spring manufacturing process is what determines exactly how well they will perform. To achieve all five factors, Swift Springs developed a proprietary steel alloy "HS5.TW", as well as a patented winding method that no other coilover manufacturer can duplicate.

Swift Springs provide drivers with a difference that they can feel and several racing benefits. Swift Springs use a very strong alloy, which means they can use a thinner diameter of wire. In turn, the thinner wire is much lighter and extremely vital given it is unsprung weight. Thinner wire also means that there is more gap between the coils with more “stroke” for the spring. This gives the spring more travel and does not “bottom” as early as thicker wire springs. Lastly, Swift Springs prove to be incredibly consistent and reliable. At the end of one year of racing, Swift Springs are typically within .5-1.0 percent of the rate they were when they just came out of the box.
