Alright, let’s talk about the Texas Speed & Performance 408 C.I.D. LQ9 short-block. This isn’t just another engine option; it’s built on a solid foundation with a brand-new GM LQ9 6.0L iron block. Right out of the gate, you’re getting a fully-assembled short-block that features a 4.00" stroke crankshaft. You can choose between a 24X or 58X reluctor wheel, depending on what fits your setup best.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting: you can pick your pistons. Whether you lean towards Wiseco, CP Pistons, Diamond Racing, or Mahle, you’re going to get a solid 2618 forging with a proprietary ring pack. Most of these pistons come in at a 4.03" bore size, but if you’ve got something unique in mind, we can do custom builds too. We’ve got a variety of connecting rods and crankshafts to match whatever you’re aiming for.

Every engine comes prepped with oil and coolant plugs already installed, so you can dive right into the fun part. Just a heads-up: shipping costs aren’t included in the listed price, but we’ll reach out to you with that info once you place your order.

If you’re planning to run some serious boost or nitrous, consider upgrading to 1/2" head studs. This upgrade includes ARP hardware and the necessary machine work. Just remember, you’ll need to grab a set of PRC aftermarket casting cylinder heads, as they come with the larger bolt holes required for the 1/2" studs. The stock GM heads won’t work without additional machining, so keep that in mind when you’re making your selection.

The Gen III block we’re using is pretty similar to the LS1/LS6, but it’s designed to work with LS2/LS3 cylinder head bolts. One more thing: every TSP engine comes with 12 quarts of break-in oil at no extra cost. This isn’t just a nice touch; it’s crucial for proper ring sealing and break-in.
