The Michelin Group is a global company based in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The Michelin Group, founded in 1889, supplies tires to more than 170 countries. The Michelin Group operates tires locally for your specific needs and road conditions in one of our 69 production facilities worldwide. Michelin's 114,000 employees are committed to making the safest and relevant tires for you. Michelin is a leader in innovation and sustainable development for the mobility of people and goods.

Because Michelin believes mobility is essential for human development, they continuously innovate to make it safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly for users worldwide. They are firmly committed to offering customers uncompromising quality - that's Michelin's priority. History of the Michelin Group Michelin brothers André and Édouard embarked on a great human and industrial odyssey in 1889 – to develop modern transport solutions that assisted freedom and economic development through ceaseless innovation. Since then, the Michelin brand has been associated with many industries and world firsts: the first detachable bicycle tire (1891), the first paved runway in the world (1916), the first Radial tire (1946), to name a few.

In 1922, Michelin commissioned a market survey entitled "The National People's Automobile Survey" The aim was to collect data on consumer needs to draw up a design brief for a new, more versatile, and, above all, more affordable automobile. The result was the Citroën 2 CV.

Michelin was the first winner of a new type of race: the World Rally Championship (WRC) created by the Fédération Internationale Automobile (FIA) in 1973. It partnered with the Renault-Alpine team. That year, Michelin set up its Motorsport department. And to this day, Michelin tires are the most sought after tires in any motorsport.

Michelin UPTIS, with its innovative and revolutionary technology, eliminates any risk of punctures. Unveiled by Michelin at the "Movin' On 2019" summit dedicated to sustainable mobility, Michelin UPTIS, the airless tire, represents a significant innovation both in terms of safety and respect for the environment.

Michelin North America operates 18 plants in 16 locations and employs 22,270 people. It manufactures and sells tires for airplanes, automobiles, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and the space shuttle. Two plants specialize in manufacturing semi-finished goods taking raw materials and turning them into components for the plants that produce tires, and one plant strictly has synthetic rubber. Finished goods are delivered in sixteen plants. Two sites produce retreads for trucking, and one spot produces retreads for the aircraft industry.
